New York-based wallpaper company Parete – named after the Italian word for ‘interior walls’ – and Wendy Morrison both thrive on creating wallcoverings that tell stories and inspire joy. Parete’s painterly background and love for hand-painted wallcoverings allowed the team to reimagine Wendy’s imagery in ways she hadn’t considered. By introducing luxurious surfaces, such as gold leaf, metallic sisal and silky strings, designs are brought to life with fabulous depth and richness.
Inspiring, immersive collaboration
Designers Michael Freedman and Daniela Guarin are co-founders of Parete. Wendy worked with the brand to create six designs that marry her maximalist style and delicate patterns, with Parete’s matching obsession with colour, texture and material. The rich, evocative collection captures the best of both brands in an exciting, deeply immersive, collaboration.
‘Collaborating with Parete Wall Coverings has been an inspiring experience,’ Wendy says. ‘Michael and Daniela’s genuine love for design mirrors my own passion. Together, we’ve crafted something truly special.
‘Luxurious substrates, like gold leaf and grass cloth, bring a richness and texture that transform my designs, offering a new dimension to storytelling. ‘We’ve always been in love with chinoiserie,’ Michael explains. ‘But since meeting Wendy, we’ve been captivated by her modern twist on this art form. That chance encounter inspired our newest collaboration, Wendy Morrison X Parete. The collection celebrates bold patterns, vibrant colours, and whimsical design, while embracing authenticity and the joy of creating together.’
As part of the collaboration, Parete introduced a gold leaf ground that pairs perfectly with Wendy’s designs. This new material enhances the collection’s luxurious look and highlights the intricate detail of each pattern.
